For my final project I would like to focus on local wildlife. Just last week there were several pelicans injured during a storm while they migrated through Oklahoma. Most Oklahoman's don’t realize that we have pelicans here in our state, but the White Pelican is here every winter. I would like to do a larger piece, of several pelicans coming into the lake, probably on my back fence. I'm still trying to decide if I should do it on the inside or the outside. If I do it on the outside, everyone will be able to see it.
The second piece will be a colored pencil piece of another insect. I would like to try some gold leaf on this, for accent.
The previous pieces that I would like to revisit are the cyanotype, the fish mobile, the butterfly automaton, and the bug series.
I covered my book board with this paper that I bought in 1998. I have no idea what it says but it goes with the white leather that I’m using for the cover. I wish it had more red in it. I might add some.
These are some of my favorite progress pieces I have seen so far. I love bugs and nature, and you're right, I had NO idea that pelicans lived in Oklahoma. I am so excited to see your reworked pieces. You have some killer ideas and you execute them beautifully. I think it would be a really good idea for you to add more red to your black and white paper. That would really make it your own as well. love this idea, I am one of those who didn't know we have pelicans. very cool, I hope you can find some kind of material that will give them movement that would be great to see lots of movement if there outside.
Oh, how beautiful! I love your location. I wish I lived by water. You have such a wonderful canvas for this final project. I think the gold leaf idea will really lift the quality of your work. I am interested to see what you will come out of this.
This sounds like a really interesting final project! I'm not originally from Oklahoma, but I had no idea that there were pelicans in the state. I think your back fence looks like the perfect backdrop for the project, especially if you can see the water in the background however you decide to install the piece. These pelicans sound like they would go along well with your fish mobile. I'm also excited to see another insect piece, those were really nice!
